About
the wine
A fantastic fresh and fragrant white wine made of 100% Garganega grapes
by one of the
emerging wine producer in the Soave area: Monte Tondo. This Soave
Classico is a terrific effort from this estate as it received the 3
bicchieri in the Gambero Rosso 2008 edition, which is, considering its
price a fantastic effort
Vinification is by cold maceration for more than 12 hours depending on
the ripeness of the fruit; soft pressing; fermentation in stainless
steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 18-20°C, with
autoctoni raising agents.
Pairs very with all kinds of seafood, shell fish, appetizers and white
meat. Makes an excellent aperitif.
Drinktemperature is 10-12° C.
Drink until 3 - 4 years after the year of production.
About the
producer
The Monte Tondo vineyard can
be found nestling in the gentle hills of Soave just a few kilometres
from Verona on a slope overlooking the valley.
Three generations have handed down the precious art of wine-making born
from a love for their land and their roots together with the knowledge
that it is only through hard work, drive and determination that the
best results can be obtained.
Twenty-five hectares of vineyards are situated on the best plots that
the Soave zone can offer: Monte Tenda, Monte Foscarino and Monte Tondo,
from which the vineyard takes its name, ensure that the wine produced
has an intense perfume, a bouquet ranging from floral to fruity with an
unmistakeable flavour, difficult to forget.
The cultivation of the vines, in trellis-work or in guyot style, allow
the grapes, mainly Garganega and Trebbiano of Soave, to grow to their
best advantage, and, thanks to the volcanic soil typical of the zone,
features of the white grapes are consequently intensified.
The fruit is chosen carefully and only the best is selected to make the
vineyard’s most prestigious wines.
Montetondo produces many different kinds of Soave, Valpolicella,
Amarone and Recioto di Soave
