About the wine
This is a very powerfull and full bodied wine from Suvereto on the
Tuscan coast,
made of 100% Syrah, by Italies famous
producer Tua Rita. This is probably the their best wine for the future,
as the quality is now already meeting Redigaffi. First definit
production was the 2003, so the Syrah is quite a new star for Tua Rita.
Connoiseurs wine.
Syrah was firstly introduced in magnums, but since this turned out to
be a succes, the production of the Syrah is now continnued with small
annual production of 1800 bottles. The Syrah is one of the few wines in
the world that gets 200% new barrique barrel aging!
Pairs very well with seasoned stewes and roasted meats.
Drinktemperature is 16-18° C.
Drink until 10-15 years after the year of production.
About the
producer
Tua Rita is perhaps todays best wineproducer in Italy and their wines
are very much sought after in the world. The story starts when Rita Tua
and her husband Virgilio Bisti bought a piece of land in 1984 in
Suvereto enjoying their riterement after they stepped out the video
games business. Virgilio had one big passion, and winemaking turned out
to be great hobby for him. They planted Cabertnet Sauvignon and Merlot
and in 1985 Virgilio made is first wine. Those days he was assisted by
the boyfriend of his daughter, Stefano Frascolla, how helped him
harvesting, botteling, etc. etc. Today Stefano Frascolla is co-owner
and his son in law.
In 1992 they sold their first wine and soon after the people started to
regonize that Tua Rita wines are of exceptional quality. Since 1995,
they started to work seriously in the business and since Redigaffi 1997
scored 97 points at WineSpectator, the Tua Rita success was born.
Stefano Frascolla already joined the company then and said goodbye to
his job at a newspaper ditributor.
Since than, Tua Rita's star is rising and was milestoned by the
Redigaffi 2000 who turned out to be the first Italian wine receiving
100 points from Robert Parker. Tua Rita wines are typical Bordeaux
style where Redigaffi shows great similarity with Pomerol.
Annual production is 40.000 bottles of which Redigaffi takes
4.000-7.000 bottles and the Syrah only 1800 bottles.
